Bio21 Institute Interim Director receives top Australian science honour

Bio21 Institute Interim Director, Professor Tony Bacic was one of seventeen distinguished scientists, honoured by election as a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science on 19 March.
Professor Bacic is distinguished for his work on the structure and biology of complex carbohydrates.
Deputy Director of the Howard Florey Institute, Professor Geoffrey Tregear, was also recipient of the prestigious honour. He was recognised for his work on peptide synthesis, the chemistry and biology of parathyroid hormone and relaxin family peptides.
Seventeen of Australia's leading scientists were honoured on 19 March by election to the Australian Academy of Science.
Election to the Academy recognises a career that has significantly advanced, and continues to advance, the world's scientific knowledge.
